Description

Knit a Teenage Doll

is a step by step guide to making a doll you can dress up - or down. Get the children involved in creating a character, the finished product, and the wonderland of imagination that follows!

And if they think they're too old for dolls, set them a designer task and create some fabulous designer wardrobes for your teenage doll.

This doll pattern is the original Ekokid pattern, and with a couple of basic tools and a few pennies you can create a new brand of eco-friendly 'Barbie' doll!

Tools you'll need to make your doll:

I pair of 4mm needles (U.S size: 6 and old UK size: 8)
A darning needle, or similar, for sewing pieces together
A pair of scissors
Paper and pen/pencil

Good to have:

*Large headed pins. These are useful for marking features and pinning pieces together before sewing.
*tape measure – for measuring yarn to verify you have enough, especially if you are using very small oddments.

Materials you'll need:

25g. (about 60 metres) of flesh colour yarn
8m of 'boot' colour or 4m of 'shoe' colour
15g. (about 35m) of 'hair' colour
25g. Washable toy filling – non-allergenic toy filling is available from most craft outlets and needlecraft shops.
Embroidery cotton for features

Keep an eye on their Facebook page for new patterns (www.facebook.com/The Ekokids)

In the meantime, why not knit some clothes for your doll? The Ekokids' have 10 great designer patterns to make in minutes!

*Please note this pattern is for the basic Ekokid doll and doesn't include clothes patterns*

Happy Knitting!
